Your Ski Level

Your Snowboard Level

Beginner

You have never skied before, either on snow or dryslope.

You have never snowboarded before, either on snow or dryslope.

Level 1

You have tried skiing before for a few hours and can ski in a cautious snowplough.

You can side slip on your heel and toe side edges, and link basic turns on green slopes and slopes like the Snowdome

Level 2

You can link snowplough turns with reasonable control and bring skis together parallel at the end of a turn on green and blue slopes.

You can link turns on green and blue runs and carry the speed through turns

Level 3

You are nearly parallel but often still use a small plough to start the turn. I have skied for a few weeks. Aim: To parallel ski more challenging pistes, bumps, red runs and easy blacks.

You are happy riding red runs and fast on easy slopes with basic switch turns

Level 4

You are a competent parallel skier, have done a few, or more, weeks skiing and struggle with bumps or steep icy sections. Aim: To be skiing parallel with more confidence on steeper groomed runs and to start more black runs.

You can ride on all grades of run and do basic carves on easy runs. I’ve done a bit of off piste, but want to do more and to start riding small park jumps and rails.

Level 5 (private lessons)

You are an advanced parallel skier (approx. 8-10 weeks experience), and can ski all reds, and blacks, providing they’re not too steep or bumpy. You would like to start learning off piste. Aim: To improve your wider skill-set in all types of terrain

Level 6 (private lessons)

You can ski most terrain and enjoy off piste runs. More than 16 weeks experience. Aim: To develop skills and adaptability to challenging and varied terrain
