Ski Resort Guide

Ski Les Gets - Ski Resort Guide

Although very famous for it’s summer mountain biking and active holidays with regular world cup events, Les Gets is becoming more and more popular with those looking for an authentic traditional alpine ski village and excellent skiing with miles of variety. Due to strict planning regulations, expansion has been gradual and sympathetically done. A firm family favourite with plenty of sunshine and scenic runs.

Where to Party?

Don’t expect the raucous swilling of booze and table dancing you quite often find in the big resorts. However, for a small village Les Gets has quite a busy little nightlife. If you want something a little livelier, Morzine is only a 4km taxi ride away

The Irish Bar        Themed evenings, live bands and drinks promotions 4-6pm.

The Black Bear    Located above the Irish Bar. A lovely cosy bar with plenty of snug alcoves to warm up in. Great bar snacks.

Bar Bush
The local legend, extreme Scottish skier ‘Figs’ is the proprietor. Brits seem to love this place. Happy hour is between 5 and 7pm.

Zebra Bar    Some brilliant live bands playing until 9ish when the DJs take over.

Bar Canadie
Civilised but still fun. Order a plate of cheese and charcuterie to wash down with your pint.

Boomerang    Lively, down to earth Australian hospitality. Is on the main street, part of the hotel of the same name

L’Igloo    If your legs can take anymore, get your dancing feet down to L’Igloo for some late night grooves.

Where to Eat?
Being a quintessentially French resort the restaurants and food are much what you’d expect. Good hearty Savoyard food with the token pizzerias thrown in to keep the less adventurous happy.

Vieux Chene        Typical local dishes, good service in a central location

Taniere     Located near to main ski lift. Heated terrace, great with kids and does great moules-frites and salads

Tourbillion        Very good quality Savoyard cuisine at affordable prices

Le Ferme de Montagne    Excellent very high quality cuisine with prices to match, try and make room in your budget for an evening in this wonderful family run establishment.

Le Flambeau    Small but perfectly formed! Meats and fondues and brilliant pizza also for takeaway. French couple who run it are very welcoming.

Le Tyrol    Warm friendly feel with cosy interior. Try the hot stone or fondue. Very popular so booking advisable.

Schuss    Situated on the main street, great for big group bookings when the object is consuming vast quantities of pizzas and red wine.
