La Plagne Overview
This major league high altitude snowsure resort packs a much bigger punch now that it is linked to les Arcs by the Vanoise Express. Part of the vast Paradiski area, one of the largest in Europe, La Plagne has a reputation that is growing as fast as the village itself. One unusual trait of La Plagne is almost all its mountains can be skied North, South, East and West, perfect for those who like to ski in the sun all day.
Skiing & Boarding
With guaranteed snow, the top lift takes you to the heady heights of 3250m; the potential for creative free styling is endless.
Whether its big motorway pistes that are perfect for practicing those turns or hitting the park is more your style youll find this resort will keep you busy for days.
Boarders will love the park-esque terrain of the area, from powder fields and couloirs to natural half pipes and the very comprehensive parks. There are plenty of off-piste opportunities, just hire a guide and have fun.
If you are a beginner you have 17 ski and snowboard schools to choose from and once youve mastered your turns then La Plagnes huge amount of blue runs will keep you more than busy with breath taking alpine views over towards Mount Blanc.
Dont write off this resort as intermediates only, the more talent you have on skis or snowboard then the more you will get out of this resort. Head up the Plagne Bellecote glacier for some hair-raising blacks and reds.
The Resort
Dont be put off by La Plagnes utilitarian buildings. Many of these house some brilliant buzzing bars and restaurants. The higher you stay the more purpose built the buildings but the increased likelihood of ski to door and the lower you stay the prettier the architecture. Belle Pagne has the best nightlife in the village although most bars and restaurants do run a courtesy bus to drop you wherever you are staying
